About

Sydney first discovered her musical talent at a young age, having perfect pitch, and playing viola in the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra. She grew up in the suburbs of Boston, and met key mentors, vocal coach and pianist Elaine Smith Purcell, Professor Sharon Daniels, and soprano Teresa Winner Blume, who instilled a deep love for singing.

Sydney graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature from Harvard University. There, she studied with Professor Sharon Daniels, sang in the Harvard University Choir, and originated the role of Nausicaa in Benjamin Perry Wenzelberg’s world premiere opera "NIGHTTOWN". After graduating, she moved to Germany to both further her German language studies and vocal training at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg with Professor Christianne Stotijn. There, she had the opportunity to sing the roles of Madame Herz in Mozarts Der Schauspieldirektor, as well as Bubikopf in Ullmann’s Kaiser von Atlantis, and Despina in Mozarts Così fan tutte. Recently Sydney was a finalist and won an encouragement award for the 2024 Seraphin Liedduo Wettbewerb in Würzburg with her duo partner Benjamin Scheuermann. She also recently won 1st Prize in the 2025 Newpark Festival Competition (Ruth Beare Cup) as well as 1st prize for classical singing in the “NATS” competition Boston division. She frequently sings as a soloist and Soprano 1 in the Süddeutscher Kammerchor, and has sung in the masterclasses of Christianne Iven, Anne Sofie von Otter, Janet Williams, Malcolm Martineau, and Sir Thomas Allen.
